If your really into mustangs you will love either with or without its apparent faults. No car is perfect, but if you love what a mustang is all about then there is nobody that can or will convince you otherwise (even with all of their “flaws”).
Perhaps you should sort of add the above to your conclusion of the paper you are working on:)
Cons of the 69 Boss – you dont have a place to run it at 7000 rpm for hours on end , it is not a street friendly or 1/4 mile friendy car . It is a great trans am car for the small cubic inch restrictions that were placed on the cars of the time .
for the new cobra, it packs a huge punch with 500hp which will get you to 60 mph in just 4.5 sec. I’ve seen even 4.1 stock. Beautiful car. Reliable for the most part. A con would be the weight of the car which is mostly due to the iron block under the hood. And it cost about 42K. but thats cheap for that amount of power. Boss 302 is a classic. Ford’s first good racing mustang. It had 290 hp. Only about 1600 units were made so its rare today.
The pros of the 2007 Shelby:
* 500 hp 500 ft lbs of torque
* The fact that its made by Shelby
* New age safety standards that the older cars didnt have
* Interior/Exterior styling that is undoubtedly Shelby
* A collector car like all the other Shelby’s released
The cons of the 2007 Shelby:
* The suspension is not up to par like it should be for a car that is 500 hp. Its a great straight line car, but on a road track its not so good.
* The rear axle is somewhat like an I beam, similar to what the Model T’s and Model A’s had when they came out. Not the greatest thing to have when you are on a road track.
* The brakes are sub par as well. With the cars weight to power ratio, they needed to install bigger brakes and rotors to makes it stop better.
* If you want a car with good gas mileage, steer clear of this one.
* Insurance cost, plus the cost of the car
The pros of the ’69 Mustang Boss 302:
* Highly collectible and sought after by Mustang enthusiasts
* An old car is always more appealing than a new car
* Had a Drag Pack that was offered at no extra cost that changed out the rear end gears making it ideal for drag racing.
* Good race car for the times, as the car was made to compete in the SCCA Trans-Am Championship in 1969 and 1970
The cons of the 69 Boss 302:
* Finding one thats in good shape at an affordable price
* The fact that there was a 428 Cobra Jet Model offered means more power and more torque than the 302.
* Insurance cost can get hectic if you have a nice one
* The brakes, the steering, and the suspension are all sub par compared to cars today. To take one out on a road course with little to no driving experience would result in a wreck at some point.
