I saw one recently on eBay engine and tranny both with about 50K miles on it for $3000 BIN. I was thinking about doing the same thing on my GT(95) but was told it wasn’t worth my while because the time and money. I was told it would be better to use money and upgrade my GT motor instead. Although I do believe with 96 cobra they started the 32v engines and I LOVE that 32v sound!
They go for around $2500-$4500 depending on year and mileage. The 97 Cobra came with a T-45. The T-45 is also found on all 1996- mid 2001 GTs (manual transmissions of course). If you said what year and what transmission your GT is it would help.

A 4.6 4v long block crate motor from Ford is $6800
A complete 5.0 4v “cammer” will set you back $15,000.

Junk that car. Ford sucks. Why waste more money so it can die again.
