I am wondering how hard it will be to make the engine swap, And if any bare 302 block will work. Found a nice one on E-Bay for a reasonable price. Thanks.

  1. You will need the engine wiring harness from a 1988 or 1989 5.0L for it to be a direct swap, A9L or A9P computer, fuel lines from a 5.0L, at the very least a 155lph fuel pump, the front A-arms and struts for a 5.0L, motor mounts for a 5.0L, a double-hump transmission crossmember, exhaust components of your choice, the 4 cylinder tachometer will be off (you’ll want an aftermarket one anyway), and the rear axle in a 4 cylinder is a 7.5 which needs to be replaced by an 8.8 from a 5.0L. Those are a few of the MAJOR components you need for the swap. For the ease of parts interchangeability and availability you want to stick with a 1985-newer roller block.

  2. It’s not just the engine that gets replaced, it’s everything under the hood and under the car. Everything from the radiator to the rear axle.
But if you find somebody else to do it, it’s easy… just fill out a check!
