   Some of these answers are way off-base. The difference is only the trim and body style as said before by SVO man. When I bought my GT back then I paid extra for the GT but the LX had almost all the same options and the same engine.

   they are mainly a trim package, with the GT having the aero kit with spoilers and flairs, also the LX came in either a 2 dr or 3 dr, but the GT only came in the 3 door hatchback….

   the 5.0 enginelx, has a cleveland block, and the gt has an windsor block. the cleveland block, was the old ford side oiler 429 h/p engine, someones toy. good luck

   mostly trim differences, and weight. the GT is heavier than the LX by about 200lbs.

   same basicly, parts will interchange. some prefer the LX cause it’s a little lighter.

   the only difference is the body kit and interior options but yes they do interchange
