I remember reading about the release of the Ford Mustang in various magazines at the time and being absolutely amazed at how the Americans went off their brains for a reskinned and tarted up Falcon! It defied logic to me.
Then a Texas chicken farmer came along and stuffed ever-larger V8 engines under the hood giving them stunning performance. Ford even went racing and rallying with them and enjoyed some success.
This book is choc-a-bloc full of articles about Carroll Shelby and the magic he wove with the Mustang in various guises, in particular the GT350 that many people say was the best muscle car ever made. They could be right.
Besides the many road tests of the GT350 and GT500 culled from magazines from all over the world, there are some really fine articles on the history of these cars. For exxample, the comparison between the 1968 Shelby Mustang GT500R and the Dodge Charger R/T--the two protagonists in the vintage Steve McQueen movie Bullitt.
Near the end of the book is a most informative article on how to recognise the various Shelby Mustangs from the period together with prices, dimensions, serisal numbers and Shelby-unique parts. Great stuff.
For lovers of American high performance cars who want all their information in one place, this book is the best value of them all.
There's 216 pages--20 in colur--here, all of it an interesting read.
